Rules for children’s travel and tickets

Under the Rules for the Carriage of Passengers by Rail Transport of Ukraine, on domestic routes a child under 6 who does not occupy a separate seat travels free with an adult. An adult travelling with more than one child under 6 must buy a child ticket for each seat occupied by the children.

Children aged 6 to 14, and children under 6 for whom a separate seat is wanted, travel on child tickets.

The child’s age for the discount is determined on the day of departure.

Children under 14 may travel only accompanied by adults. The accompanying passenger must carry a document confirming the child’s age and show it at boarding and on the way.

The fare for children aged 6 to 14 is 75% of the adult fare.

On international routes with the Baltic states and on trains of foreign railways within Ukraine, children under 5 who do not occupy a separate seat travel free. Children aged 5 to 10 need a child ticket; from 10, the full fare applies. Children under 10 may not travel without an adult.
