A flagship train is a new level of service that Ukrzaliznytsia is introducing to make travel more comfortable for passengers. Flagship trains are made up of new or modernised carriages that offer a high level of comfort. Five such trains have been launched so far, and the list is set to grow.
Features of flagship carriages
A flagship carriage is a carriage with improved travel conditions, found in flagship trains. Their main advantages:
- New or modernised compartment and luxury (SV) carriages: they have modern air conditioning, vacuum toilets, power sockets, USB chargers and baby-changing tables for passengers travelling with children.
- Improved safety: compartment doors are fitted with alarms, and there is a panic button to call the carriage attendant in an emergency.
- Extra comforts: passengers can enjoy an updated selection of board games, as well as Ukrzaliznytsia's own branded sugar cubes.
- A sense of the route: each train has its own name, logo and music that reflect the history and culture of the route.
Ukrzaliznytsia's flagship trains
The flagship trains currently are:
- No. 15/16 Kharkiv – Yasinia "Les Kurbas"
- No. 17/18 Kharkiv – Uzhhorod "Skovoroda"
- No. 79/80 Dnipro – Lviv "Sicheslav"
- No. 91/92 Kyiv – Lviv "Leopolis"
- No. 105/106 Kyiv – Odesa "Chornomorets"
Tickets for these trains cost the same as for other carriages of the same class, so they are affordable for a wide range of passengers.
Future plans
Ukrzaliznytsia plans to keep expanding the list of flagship trains and set new quality standards for travel. This approach not only improves the image of rail transport but also makes journeys more comfortable and enjoyable for all passengers.
Flagship trains mean modern comfort and safety, available to every traveller.
