It is the ideal place to begin getting to know Rakhiv and the long history of the region.
The centre of Europe
When you visit Rakhiv, you find yourself not just in a Hutsul corner of Transcarpathia but in the very centre of Europe. Here, in the picturesque Carpathians, lies the village of Dilove, home to the famous monument marking the geographical centre of the continent — a spot determined astronomically back in 1887.
The Museum of Mountain Ecology and the Museum of Hutsul Carving
You can dive deeper into local culture at Rakhiv's museums, which display exhibits on Hutsul traditions, history and everyday life in the region. From traditional costumes to old musical instruments, the collections show the many facets and depth of Hutsul culture. These cultural centres introduce visitors to the natural wealth of the Carpathians and to unique Hutsul craft traditions. The mountain museum covers a huge area and is a source of inspiration for ecologists and nature lovers.

Trekking
Rakhiv is a well-known trekking destination with mapped routes for day hikes that do not require an overnight stay in the mountains. Enjoy superb views and landscapes in the picturesque Carpathians — an ideal place for a calm break and the quiet of mountain seclusion, far from the noise of the city.
Mountains
As soon as you arrive in town, you can see the Chornohora, Marmarosh and Svydovets ranges, and this is where many hiking routes begin. The local trails are notable for their many mineral springs and clean rivers.
Fans of military history tourism should visit the Rakhiv section of the Árpád Line. Among the local highlights is Mount Lysa, which offers a panorama of the high Carpathian peaks — Blyznytsia and Pip Ivan Marmaroskyi.

A visit to Rakhiv is not complete without climbing Ukraine's highest point, Hoverla. Reaching the summit not only gives you a sense of achievement but also opens up atmospheric views of the forested slopes and snow-capped peaks of the Carpathians, making the trip an unforgettable experience.
Burkut Arboretum and the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve
A trip to these places immerses you in the unique beauty of the local flora and fauna, where you can feel the breath of ancient forests and touch the mysteries of nature.
The larch and sakura avenues
Rakhiv is famous for its unique flora: it has the tallest larches in the country, which shed their needles for winter, the oldest larch avenue in Europe, more than 200 years old, as well as giant Swiss stone pines and junipers over 5 metres tall. It is also a place to see the spring sakura blossom, which begins here just after Uzhhorod and Mukachevo.
Hutsul korovai
At the traditional Rakhiv market you can buy Hutsul korovai — finely decorated ceremonial loaves that symbolise the hospitality and generosity of local people. Experienced cooks share their secrets of baking korovai, passing unique recipes down from generation to generation.
Relaxing in a chan
One of the most remarkable attractions in Rakhiv is relaxing in a Hutsul chan. These are large wooden tubs filled with hot water and herbs, set up in the open air. While soaking in a chan, you can admire the starry sky and enjoy the warmth and healing properties of Carpathian herbs.
Traditional Hutsul festivals
Every year Rakhiv hosts numerous festivals where you can watch Hutsul dances, listen to folk music and try local delicacies. It is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Hutsul folklore and make new friends.
