Children up to a certain age may travel free of charge when accompanied by an adult, provided they do not occupy a separate seat.
Free travel without a separate seat
- Within Ukraine — children up to and including 5 years old.
- To and from Moldova — children up to and including 4 years old.
- To and from Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary — children up to and including 3 years old.
When travelling within Ukraine with two or more children aged 5 or under, a child ticket must be purchased. One child ticket may be purchased for every two children aged 5 or under.
For travel to European countries, free travel is available for only one child aged 3 or under. If you are travelling with more than one child in this age group, child tickets must be purchased for the additional children.
Discounts for older children
The following discounts apply for children travelling with their own seat:
- Within Ukraine: children aged 6–13 years (inclusive) receive a 25% discount on the base ticket fare.
- To and from Moldova: children aged 5–9 years (inclusive) receive a 62–64% discount on the total ticket price.
- Between Ukraine and European countries (both directions): children receive a 50% discount on the ticket fare. The seat reservation fee is not discounted.
For international journeys, the total ticket price is calculated separately for each country's railway network according to the following child age categories:
- Ukraine: children aged 4–11 years (inclusive);
- Poland and Slovakia: children aged 6–15 years (inclusive);
- Austria, Hungary, and Romania: children aged 6–14 years (inclusive).
The same discounts apply if you purchase a separate seat for a younger child.
