Passengers travelling with full-fare, discounted, free, or group tickets may board a train only upon presentation of both a valid train ticket and a valid identity document.
Accepted identity documents include:
- Ukrainian national passport;
- Ukrainian international passport;
- Ukrainian diplomatic passport;
- Ukrainian official (service) passport;
- Seafarer's identity document;
- Crew member certificate;
- Certificate of return to Ukraine;
- Temporary Ukrainian identity certificate;
- Driver's licence;
- Stateless person's travel document for travel abroad;
- Identity document for a person granted additional protection;
- Refugee or protected person's travel document for travel abroad;
- Certificate confirming an application for protection in Ukraine;
- Permanent residence permit;
- Temporary residence permit;
- Migrant card;
- Refugee certificate;
- Refugee travel document;
- Passport or other identity document issued to a foreign citizen or stateless person.
Passengers travelling with discounted tickets must also present the original document confirming their eligibility for the discount.
Boarding with children
Children under the age of 16 may board the train upon presentation of a document confirming their age, such as:
- the child's birth certificate;
- a notarized copy of the birth certificate;
- a parent's passport containing the child's information;
- the child's Ukrainian passport;
- the child's Ukrainian international passport.
Group travel
For group travel, the group leader must present the train tickets together with the passenger list certified in accordance with the applicable railway regulations at the ticket office. During boarding, the conductor (or train steward) verifies that the passengers' identity documents match the certified passenger list.
Military personnel
Military personnel performing compulsory military service may board the train by presenting their military ID card.
Persons released from prison
For persons travelling to their place of residence after being released from a correctional facility, the certificate of release serves as a valid identity document for boarding.
