Train speed limits on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure are determined based on the train category, type of rolling stock, technical condition of the tracks, and specific route characteristics.
The maximum permitted speed for high-speed trains of the “Intercity+” category may reach 160 km/h on certain sections, while long-distance passenger trains may travel at speeds of up to 140 km/h, and suburban trains at up to 120 km/h.
However, the actual speed of trains may be temporarily restricted for technical or operational reasons, including maintenance works, adverse weather conditions, safety measures, and other factors, in accordance with the applicable regulatory and technical documents of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
